Is Alicia Keys no longer in an “Empire State of Mind”? In February 2010, the soulful singer and her husband, rapper and producer Swizz Beats, shelled out $12.75 million for a stunning New York penthouse owned by rock star Lenny Kravitz. Two years later, the couple has relisted the residence for $17.95 million. Accessible via a keyed elevator, the glamorous home includes a dramatic gallery entrance, a gourmet kitchen, a media room, five bedrooms, four bathrooms and four powder rooms. UPDATE: Alicia Keys reduced the asking price of her Manhattan penthouse to $15 million in January 2013.

The home sits on more than an acre on North Bay Road, where Jennifer Lopez, Alex Rodriguez, Calvin Klein and Ricky Martin have lived.
Mr. Damon created the home from two separate parcels he bought in 2005, one for $10.3 million and another for $4.2 million, according to public records. Records also show that last year he paid $15 million for a home in the Pacific Palisades area of Los Angeles, on the same street as his longtime collaborator, Ben Affleck.
Allendale is a former settlement in Alameda County, California now annexed to Oakland. It was located 1.5 miles (2.4 km) northeast of Fruitvale. A post office opened in 1903 and by 1908 was a branch of the Oakland post office. Allendale was named for Charles E. Allen, a real estate broker.
The commercial district of Allendale is located along 38th Avenue up and down from where it crosses Allendale Avenue. Allendale Elementary School is located there. Allendale is on what might be called the cinema archipelago of East Oakland. Each commercial district (with an exception or two) had a theatre beginning with the 20’s or so. This applied to not only Allendale District, but nearby Laurel (which had two), Fairfax, Dimond, and Fruitvale (which had a second one nearby at Foothill and 35th Avenue), and another at the foot of Park Boulevard on the east side of the lake. The Allendale theatre, like most of the others, has been converted to another use. The one that has continued in use as a theatre is the Grand Lake, at the edge of East Oakland at the north end of Lake Merritt. There are others in downtown Oakland and North Oakland.
